MOUNT PISGAH ACADEMY - About Us

Mount Pisgah Academy is a Seventh-day Adventist boarding School for grades 9-12 located in Candler, North Carolina, about eight miles west of Asheville. MPA is part of the world-wide Seventh-day Adventist School system of almost 6000 schools, over 1000 of which are secondary schools. The school is accredited by the National Council for Private Schools and by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities.

The Campus includes 230 acres of lawns, trees, flowers and hills, with an indescribable view of the Southern Appalachians and the 5721-foot peak of Mount Pisgah, for which the school is named. To meet the educational and spiritual needs of the students, an administration building, cafeteriia and music building, gymnasium, church, dormitories and an industrial complex have been constructed. The school master plan calls for additional new and remodeled facilities to meet epanding needs. For a list of our current projects, click here.

History

From very humble, primitice beginnings in 1914 with only 10 students, Pisgah Industrial Institute grew and progressed through the leadership of several dedicated self-supporting Seventh-day Adventist families. At one time there was a small hospital on campus and the school offered a two-year Practical Nursing course as well as the regular class work for high school. In 1951, the Carolina Conference of Seventh-day Adventists bought the school and changed the name to Mount Pisgah Academy.
